Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Her modelling career began in Italy which is where she was raised before being born in California. Her acting career started in 1996 when she starred in the TV film Her Costly Affair. The struggle she had to get the role in Starship Troopers, a film with mainly minor roles was very intense. The transition was difficult for Amy as she had to move from modelling into performing. Models aren't regarded as the best actors so they tend to get smaller, insignificant roles. Amy did not give up and ultimately she was offered bigger roles in the films Varsity Blues and The 70s. Amy then moved into leading roles in the love story Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds. Amy was finally recognized for the role she had been chasing for over a decade. Amy was in several big movies in the Crank trilogy opposite Jason Statham.
