Amy Smart, an American actress and former model. Amy Smart was raised in California, USA. She began the modeling profession in Italy. In 1996, she made her debut as an actress in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. Her struggle to land the role in Starship Troopers, a film which featured only minor characters, was a gruelling battle. This was not easy for Amy since she needed transition from modelling to acting. Models aren't considered great actors, so they usually play smaller, less important roles. Yet, somehow Amy refused to give up and transitioned to more prestigious roles. It all started with the series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. Then she stepped into lead roles in the 2005 romantic comedy film Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy finally got the recognition she had been chasing for over a decade. She then worked on some of the biggest films including the Crank series with Jason Statham as well as Shameless in which she played an enduring character.
