Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Her family was in Barcelona and has been dubbed an "atypical popstar" because of her diverse musical styles. When she was of thirteen, she fell in fascination with Spanish folk music and enrolled in musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She was also a guest at weddings and music bars. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop music and hip-hop music. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born into an ethnically diverse family and is the eldest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family business that is specialized in metalworks. Jose Manuel Vila, her father, was born in Cudillero. They parted in 2019. The actress has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who is working with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts at an early age, particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical training at Taller de Musics. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She started at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
